You need 3 personal bank accounts in Lagos Nigeria if you have a business



Hi Friend,

If you have a business in Lagos Nigeria, you need at least 3 personal or corporate bank accounts to survive and live stress free.

If you have one bank account and you need to withdraw some money. Let’s say, you rush to the bank at 3pm. And they tell you that, the systems are down and you can’t withdraw money. What will you do? You will quickly look for the nearest GTB bank and get your money, “fast fast”.

The systems are down is a common statement by bankers in Lagos. Expect it.

You need to be aware of some factors before choosing a bank and an account. They are:-

COT charges – you will have to pay N5 for every N1000, that goes into your account. If you operate in the millions, that is a lot of charges. First Bank offers a “No COT Charges” if you leave 50,000 naira in your account. This is the cheapest I have seen so far for a Corporate Account. The others like Zenith Bank and Bankphb are saying, I have to leave 500,000 naira in my corporate account, everytime before I can enjoy d “no COT charges” service.

SMS Alert – most of the banks offer this due to the fraud. But, 419er can arrange with your bank manager not to send an alert until after they have cleared your account. Know your bank manager and give them “egunje” on a regular basis.

Internet banking service
Fast service
Relationship Manager – request for one, if not offered. Make this person your friend.

I cannot use Fidelity bank, Spring Bank, and Union Banks. This is the internet age and they are not keeping up the trend.

I can recommend GTB (quality & exceptional service), Bankphb (great products, fast sms alerts & quality relationship managers), First bank (your money is safe, slow people) and Zenith (fantastic service & professional).

Check out the charges on your Non-Nigerian accounts. These are accounts opened for you with your address in the UK or US. I close all my accounts before coming back home.
